Kya Garwood is an actor, producer, and professional acting double. Her stage work began as a dancer/model in various hair and fashion shows. This progressed in Kya winning a local beauty pageant, and she turned the tables; rather than being a contestant, she found a way to co-host them. Later on, taking the plunge and relocating to LONDON, in the hope of continuing as a host/presenter, Kya went on to work in various hospitality roles for major sporting events, including F1, BTCC, World Superbikes, and even worked with a production company to gain knowledge of Skiing and ski resorts in order to get insider knowledge. As this was a hard industry to crack, Kya decided to go back to her initial love of acting. Her stage work includes the West End as a supernumerary for Stephen Daldry’s An Inspector Calls, at the Cockpit Theatre in the lead role of Package Deal by Frederick Stroppel and recently at the Omnibus Theatre, Clapham, in All Other Yarns directed by Ashley Scott Layton, playing the roles of Aunt Enid and Matron. Predominantly a screen actor, Kya has had minor roles in both television and films. Her first role was in a SKY show, DREAM TEAM, in which she played an extra, which led to a speaking role as Suzi. Kya would commute from Yorkshire to London to film the show regularly to show how dedicated she was, even just to work as an extra. Having a love for acting, she stayed in London and started doing more training and networking. In 2007, she was asked to be a stand-in. After several meetings, the actress chose Kya, which made Kya passionate about the art: Immediately, Kya was being booked by productions directly, and this became Kya's career and training path for the next 19 years, due to the close connection she now had with Directors, Producers, DOP's and Actors.Kya has helped produce two short films, and is currently in development for her own work, which is set to start shooting late 2026.
In 2024, Kya was asked to play the lead in a short film to be filmed in Cannes, France.
